Dex & Perry are back and better than ever!!! And in Dex’s POV, baby!!! Oh… to be in Dex’s mind for 438 pages…. Sigh…

Every time I read another installment of the EIT series, I think we are finally getting some answers, but then I realize we are only pealing back more layers. This book is no exception. As our fearless team + Maximus, (yes, you read that correctly,) head to NOLA for some ghostly fun we learn just how much we simply do not know…

First, let’s back up a bit. Yep, Maximus. The Ginger got himself back in the EIT game and is headed with Dex and Perry to their next assignment. He is just trailing them either. Nope, he is leading and this assignment is his baby. We learn a lot about his mysterious and annoying behaviors from the previous books. As a bonus, Dex and Perry create some new and fun insults to sling his Ginger way as he inserts himself firmly between them and interferes with their new and budding relationship.

“You, ginger balls, you shut the f*ck up.”

OK, OK, I know you are dying to hear about the Dex & Perry relationship! What makes this book so great is that we don’t just get these two together, but get it with Dex’s POV. It isn’t all smooth sailing, but I’d be disappointed if it was. It is pure Dex & Perry and I love it! There was a new element introduced to Dex and Perry’s love story and it seriously rocked the book. It made me ache for both of them, but reading it from Dex’s POV and understanding his vulnerability made his character reveal depths that made me love him even more. This is another layer that we will be seeing again, I am sure.

“Perry, I’ve wanted you since the moment I saw you. I’m not going to stop showing you off or rubbing it in to everyone I know, anytime soon … You’re mine. And you’re mine alone. From now until the end of time.”

Ghosts you ask? Well it’s NOLA! New Orleans, baby! Of course there are ghosts, but that is the least of their worries, ya know, with the zombies running around and all. This book was spine-tingling scary! I was squirming in my seat as I read. There was a slow build throughout the story starting from the moment they arrived in NOLA that this assignment was different from all the others. They were in danger the entire time. There was a feeling of unease throughout the read and I was absolutely terrified by the time everything came to a head.

“What did the candles smell like?” she asked.
Was she kidding me?
“Like Eau du Zombie. I don't know.”

How action packed is this story? I read it one day. BOOM. I had to. I couldn’t put it down.

Warning, MUST read the previous books before even stepping into book 7 here!

First of all, I might say this more than once, but I don't usually read this genre of book. I enjoy thrillers and such, but something that is a bit more PNR or in that realm doesn't necessarily interest me. But Karina Halle has grabbed me and I will slowly finish this series if it's the last thing I do. I have fallen for Dex and Perry and I need to see this out until the end and see what kind of ghost, zombie, spirit, evilness etc they see and encounter next
This book is told in Dex's point of view and he is just a crass a$$ a lot of times, but you can still see how much he cares for and hungers for Perry. They are honestly made for each other, no matter the age difference (and honestly, she may act older than him at times...he's still a college student at heart, lol).
"You are a part of me, Dex. You're every part of me. Always have been. ALways will be."
We enter NOLA with Dex, Perry and our favorite ginger Maximus is back! New Orleans always has the feeling of spirits here and with the history of voodoo, music and food, we enter into a realm that is perfect and so now (even if this was written a few years ago, it still is timed well with what is going on in the world). This story is filled with some sexy times between our 2 lovers that took this long to get together (yay Perry and Dex) and voodoo spirits that bring out the zombies. Not only are our 3 main characters filming for their Shownet internet show, it seems that they are fighting for their very lives and livelihood and piecing together pieces of their pasts that will make their future.
..."said that I shouldn't worry. That there is only good from love. That our hearts are magnets. That we couldn't stay apart for long."
This story had love, fight and my heart thumping towards the end. I was scared and pretty much hyperventilating with anticipation of not being able to breathe. Ups and downs happen, but our characters still called SEattle home and I can't wait to see what next adventure they will take me on. 4.5 better and better stars
